March 2019 Blog Income Report

2019 started off slow and steady with January and February growing a little each month.

In March I saw some real changes and saw that I could potentially earn a side income with this blog! What changed?

The first thing I did was apply and get accepted for Google Adsense. I know my readers may not be jumping for joy over having ads on the page, but I wanted to diversify my income and branch out from only affiliate income.

The Adsense threshold for payouts is $100…so at pennies a day I won’t be reporting that til around 2020. But hey, you have to start somewhere!

Getting accepted was a big win for me. in itself. If I can grow my audience more, there are more lucrative ad networks to join instead!

In March I also set my sights on doing a bit of freelance work. Paid guest blogs would be the ideal but so far I have only found opportunities to guest blog for free. I did manage to make a connection through a blogging group who paid me to ghostwrite a few articles!

I know this isn’t technically money MY blog earned, but I am considering my blogging/freelancing efforts to be all the same business–side hustle!

And finally I answered a cold email about doing a sponsored post and was super happy with the process!

March 2019 Income:

Affiliate Income: $0 (darn, I missed the $10 payout by cents!)

Ad Income: $0 (but I am up and running!)

Sponsored Post: $100

Freelancing: $90

Total: $190

Things looked pretty different this month! It definitely got me thinking more about what freelance work could do for my side hustle so I created my “hire me” page which you can find in the tabs on the top menu!
