Back to school is upon us! Do you usually send a gift for your child’s new teacher?

We don’t have many years of experience under our belt since my oldest is just going into Pre-K 4.

However, I do think sending a little happy in for your child’s new teacher goes a long way in showing your appreciation for the time (and patience!) they will be spending on your kid this year.

I get how it can slip through the cracks though. Maybe you have 3 or 4 children in school and you just loaded them all up on required school supplies. Adding gifts in right after dropping that kind of cash may not seem do-able.

The good news is–you don’t need to break the bank to be thoughtful. And with Amazon Prime, you can even wait until the last minute.

Here are 10 teacher gift ideas for the first day of school that come will only set you back around $5 on Amazon!

Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap – This hand soap has such a high end look and comes in amazing fragrances. It’s the perfect little splurge for the kitchen or bathroom. I like the handy 3 pack so you can give one to the teacher, one to the aide, and keep one for yourself!

Adult coloring book – They say these are supposed to be stress relieving. Judging by my kids’ attitudes lately, their teachers may need it! You can find plenty of cute options ringing in around $5.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer – This is super easy to wear and I’d be happy to receive it as a gift any day! Great for the on-the-go teacher to apply in the car or right in class.

Teacher Record Book – Things may be done online now, but a lot of teachers will appreciate this paper version. This gift is both practical and cute and comes at a great price point.

Flair pens – A favorite among teachers! They like school supplies for themselves, too. A small assorted color 4 pack of these felt tip pens fluctuates on Amazon but should come in just a little over the $5 mark.

Yankee Candle car vent clip – Back to school and back to the grind of the daily commute. A new car vent clip in one of Yankee Candle Co’s great fragrances will not go unappreciated!

Lifewit lunch bag – Perfect for packing lunch for school or even for using on the weekends off. This gift is attractive and affordable. For a whopping $1 more, check out this stylish option also by Lifewit.

Facial masks – After a long day of teaching, going home to a little self care can make all the difference. Instead of a large tube of facial mud mask, try a little sample kit with several options! This set is twice the budget, but it comes with 6 different sheet masks and gives you two of each one—perfect if you have two teachers to buy for!

Stainless Steel Straws – These can be used for the coffee, water, soda, or whatever drink your child’s teacher likes to keep at his or her desk. It’s a better alternative than plastic for the environment so you can feel good about giving these as gifts.

Cute sticky notes – Everyone needs a sticky note from time to time, and these pretty leaf designs are so much more fun to use than a plain yellow square. These make writing little reminders fun!

Hopefully you have been inspired by this list and know that it’s really not about what you spend. Adding a handwritten card from you or your child will elevate these affordable gifts.

In fact, if there is no room in the budget for a gift at all—just do a card alone! Well wishes for the school year and a note introducing yourself is something any teacher will truly appreciate.

Wishing you all a smooth “back to school” transition!
