July and August 2019 Blog Income Report

You know I didn’t have a stellar summer of income when I combine reports like this. But, I have good excuses…

Okay maybe just the normal excuse…I got busy!

We have a large event in our town (a rodeo!!)that my husband is super involved in and I also really took to nesting for our September baby. Next thing you know it was back to school and I hadn’t freelanced in over a month.

Oops!

There was something amazing that happened for affiliate income, but I won’t see the payout til October. Someone ordered something like 100 items off of one of my links in one day. My typical $20-$30 a month in affiliate income was blown out of the water.

Technically that could happen any time or it could never happen again…but still I did happen during August so it makes me feel better about having such a slow month 

Here is how July and August shook out:

July 2019:

Affiliate Income: $37.67

Ad Income: $0

Sponsored Post: $0 (okay so I didn’t look for any, but sure wishing a proposal would land in my inbox soon!)

Freelancing: $90

Total: $127.67

August 2019:

Affiliate Income: $19.54

Ad Income: $0 (BUT I was less than $5 from hitting the payout!!)

Sponsored Post: $0….crickets

Freelancing: $0

Total: $19.54

This reports show you that you can’t ignore your blog and expect to make money. As much as I talk about “passive income,” there really is no such thing.

To keep my blog relevant and keep ad and affiliate income coming in, I need to produce content or at the very least promote old content on Pinterest
often.

Additionally, I’m not going to get any freelance income without working for it!

Overall, this kind of income trickle is more than enough to pay for the blog itself so I’m happy. And I am refreshed to hit this fall (even though new baby is due mid month) with a mindset to increase my income!

Stay tuned to see if I can get closer to my goal of $500 a month by the end of the year.
