life update

I’ve been in a rut only posting those baby sleep updates! I want to do more MCM and Curly Girl content as well just can’t seem to find the Mid Century inspiration and I rarely fix my hair while on maternity leave.

So while I sat here folding laundry and watching The Parent Trap (thank you Disney Plus) I figured I could just do a little life update. This is one way of putting off my mountains of laundry which I don’t even understand how I get behind on while I don’t have work…

Also it dawned on me that I used to watch The Parent Trap and identify with Lindsey Lohan’s character(s)…summer camp, cool hand secret handshakes, fun plots. Then for a time I really understood where Meredith Blake was coming from…who wouldn’t be after Nick Parker and his vineyard?

Now you’d think as an adult with kids I could be all Elizabeth James….but let’s real…

I best identify with Chessie.

Mountains of laundry I tell you.

Anyway, we are about to enter a new phase in life…getting back to reality with three kids. It’s different than each time before because now we know we’re done having kids. I won’t be saving baby pajamas each time they are outgrown or storing walkers and high chairs any more.

Each and every day of our lives from now on means one day closer to the day we never change diapers again! We’ve had a minimum of one kid in diapers since January 2015!

Speaking of…Tom is firmly against potty training. In some ways. Actually he was just like Sam on the overnights. He holds it 11 hours in underwear with ease…no changing sheets in the middle of the night! So HOW is it possible he can handle that for 11 hours while asleep but 2 hours awake is questionable?

I do not know. But if our first child had potty trained this way I don’t know if there would be a third!

I kid…

Kind of. I’m not even going to elaborate on the accident last night….

On the upside Henry is sleeping all night like a champ and good sleep for te whole family is always nice. I have started a work out routine that makes me feel awesome. The trick will be sticking with this once I go back to work.

Two weeks from today will be my last day home. The next day will bring my first day back to work since early September, Henry’s first day of daycare, and Tom’s first day of preschool.

Sam is so pumped to have his little brother across the hall!

We did not plan this crazy well but my husband will be out of town during that whole crazy week and I’m hosting bunco…ha!

We did know going into this year that he is Rodeo Chairman would come with some challenges and this is definitely one of them. Travis is THE breakfast maker during weekday mornings. Some days when he has w0rk early they kids seriously look at me and ask who will make breakfast!

So if you see me driving around tossing mini muffins into the back seat that week…don’t judge.

I am trying to prep hard before. My goal is to get Christmas up the weekend before, get Christmas cards out before, deep clean the house the weekend before and have all our work and school outfits laid out….and maybe drink a lot of wine in the evenings? 🙂

Regardless of that busy week I am so looking forward to Christmas with these three little boys. We have tickets for a Santa train! We have our matching jammies ready. We have Disney Plus offering so many Chrismas movies. We even have a Ninja Bread cookie kit (thanks Aldi) that they are pretty pumped for.

Our first holiday season as a family of five is sounding like a magical time to me.

Here’s to hoping my next life update involves a potty trained Tom!
