Still enjoying a new year fresh start kind of feeling over here!

I know it won’t last all year but why not eat healthy or organize or whatever it may be while you’re in the mood to? It doesn’t hurt anything to be super “on” for a few weeks.

Since my resolution is to be intentional with my time I really want to try out self care Sundays!

A lot of my last New Years post about being intentional focused on finding time to clean or workout so that I have more dedicated hours to hang out with my family.

It’s not that I want to add more work, I just think there are better times to do said work.

Say I want to sleep 8 hours at night? 10pm-6am works. But if I usually spend my evenings on the couch being pretty UN intentional with my time, then what would 9pm-5am look like?

It would look like a workout and a load of laundry before the rest of the house was even awake! I’m trying to remind myself, maybe I don’t need more hours in the day to achieve this–maybe I just need to be mindful of how I’m using the hours I have.

If I can do that, I can spend evenings with the kids and my husband without feeling like I’ve put off housework.

But what I didn’t hit on that much in that post was self care. Being intentional with my time means also choosing to use any and all of my time with specific intent. So I’ve decided I’m intentionally setting aside a
small amount of time on Sunday evenings for me—self care Sundays!

What does that mean? Nothing too crazy. I will try my hardest to remove myself from the couch all of 15-20 minutes before I usually do and either put on a facial mask, paint my nails, etc., and let it dry while reading a book.

(On my list for this month it’s The Tattooist of Auschwitz )

It’s not extravagant. For many people it may already be the norm. But I get busy and this little chunk of time pampering and unwinding it’s just a feel good way to get ready for the upcoming week.

It’s also a reminder to myself that I really do have time—my kid are all asleep before 8:00. I just get in ruts of wasting my time with tv and scrolling.

2020 is for self care Sundays!

Some other ideas you may want to try during a self care Sunday evening are:

  1. yoga
  2. meditation
  3. taking a bath — add in something extra like a body scrub or bath bomb
  4. journal about your day
  5. read a daily devotional

I didn’t ask on my last post—what are your resolutions?!
