we bought a camper!

For the past few years we have toyed around with the idea of getting a camper.

Recently we decided that spending the weekends “unplugged” nearby a river or lake or wherever and soaking up the memories of our boys being young is something we shouldn’t pass up for a minute longer–so we went for it!

We scoped out used campers on Facebook for a few days and found one! Y’all know I have DIY plans galore.

Because I feel like I can spruce it up on a dime (and because…Dave Ramsey) we went with a really budget friendly 1997 Sportsmen beauty.

Despite many reassurances that she is watertight by the Facebook marketplace seller…I think we have some work to do to ensure that. So now my husband has been roped into my “fixer upper camper” shenanigans, ha!

As soon as the weather warms up you can be sure that I’ll be blogging our progress. For now here are some before shots and an idea of where my head is at now as far as plans.

Here she is in all her 90’s glory!

Probably most excited about this plan–we are going to paint the exterior!

Triple bunks!

I am so happy we found a layout that has three designated beds for our three boys. I think these bunks will work well for a while! Back here I’m leaning toward simple paint and bedding and maybe a fun wallpaper for them.

Kitchen/living area plans are to clean, freshen up with white paint, and add a pop of wallpaper. I’m undecided on recovering the cushions or painting the fabric (mostly covered with sheets in these pictures). The tables and counters are probably getting some marble contact paper.

Bedroom ideas currently include more white paint and less window treatments.

This is the area of my laundry room I’m calling my camper corner! Yes, that’s the box Henry outgrew from the hospital. (Is there anything a boxinette can’t do?!)

This is a money saver. The best budget DIY projects always start with me “shopping” my own home because I often have things and don’t even realize it.

Sure enough I have paint and spray paint in some great colors for the camper project–black, white, gold and clear coat. I have some bedding and decor I’m not currently using and even some scrap wood from an old project that could be anything–stay tuned!
