I’m calling this guide “little kids” imagining the time frame where kids are old enough to understand and remember the holiday yet still young enough for the magic of Christmas morning–this is another great age for Christmas gifts!
Although many 3-6 year olds will know exactly what they want for Christmas, here is a gift guide of some items that we love as well as some my kids are getting this year to inspire your holiday shopping.
1. Lego Duplo train set – Tom wanted a train set this year and I liked the reviews on this one the most. I really like how you can expand with more compatible sets later if they love it!
2. Schleich animals – These are simple and well made. We have a bucket full of all kinds of Schleich animals. They get played with in the bath, outside, when we make chalk cities, favorites get packed for travel–they are solid additions to any toy collection and will last forever!
3. Hi-Ho Cherry-0 – Or another fun game! I love to have a good family game night go-to and for us that has been Hi-Ho Cherry-O. It’s a quick game that is just based on luck and includes great counting out loud practice.
4. Bean bag chair – My kids hang out in their playroom in these or move into the living room for “movie theater night”. They are even used as props for forts or imaginative play sometimes.
5. Play guitar – A play guitar is a hit with most little kids I know…though maybe not their parents. At least it’s better than drums!
6. Radio Flyer car and ramp – Tom wanted this for his 4th birthday after playing on a friend’s. I really wondered if he’d be too big, but he and Sam both love it and Henry will grow into it. Fits great in a hallway for winter months or outside for warmer weather. Also the ramp has smaller grooves to race toy cars!
7. Crayola art case – I always had art cases growing up and loved them. Fresh art supplies are always welcome but I think the suitcase style is going to be well received. And they’ll love having their own full set of supplies. Great gift paired with a quality art notebook too.
8. Scooter – The light up wheels really make this scooter! Actually we tried out other scooters this spring and both broke right away! I returned them and tried this brand and they have been going strong since, so they hold up at a great price.
9. Bumper car – My 1, 4 and 5 year old boys are all getting these as their big Santa gift this year. I read that they are a bit slow for bigger kids, but they aren’t really meant for speed anyway. Bumper cars at the fair are slow too…so I’m betting the fun of bumping into each other works for all these ages.
10. Magnetic tile wheel set – A lot of you may already have magnetic tile sets, which are a great gift in themselves. But adding wheels can take them up a notch! This wheel add-on kit is compatible with standard magnetic tiles.
I am also anxiously awaiting our Tubelox shipment! This will be our big shared gift to the kids from us this year and I was given the opportunity to write a product review. I might be more excited about it than my kids–stay tuned to check them out!
Happy shopping!
