I am always amazed by bloggers who prepare holiday content in advance. The truth is if you are planning to decorate for Halloween during mid to late Sept, you may look for ideas in the weeks leading up to that, meaning content creators often are putting their ideas into action weeks before that.
So prepping in August for fall and even Christmas content! It makes sense, it’s just hard to do.
I realized early on into blogging that I am not the girl who will be preparing Christmas cookie content in October. Example: last year I posted this Christmas book list on December 19th, targeting those last minute Amazon prime readers I guess 🙂
Still, I do like to share seasonal things. I appreciate all the décor ideas and inspiration that is available to me thanks to online content creators so I’ve
decided the best way for me to dabble in this area is to just use last year!
I was so happy with my DIY floating witch hats I did for Halloween 2020 and I’ll definitely be doing them again so I wanted to show you how easy it is.
All you’ll need is:
Lightweight witch hats (these are inexpensive and worked great!)
Fishing line
Sewing needle
Small pony beads
Small clear command hooks
The steps:
Cut a piece of fishing line roughly 2-3 feet (I varied mine)
Tie a pony bead on one end of the fishing line to make a stopper
Tie the other end of the fishing line to the eye of a sewing needle and feed it through the tip of the hat
Untie or cut off the needle
Tie the fishing line to a clear command hook and place on ceiling or beam
I think this is a great bang for your buck approach to decorating your front porch. Especially if you already have fishing line and beads on hand, this is an easy under $25 look.
I loved it so much I added a few more to the inside of the house last minute. This was a surprise for pumpkin carving night!
I am going to add more to the dining room for a wannabe Hogwarts Great Hall effect this year and can’t wait! I may add lights, and if I do will update this post to let you know how it worked.
Happy Halloween decorating!
