April 2019 Blog Income Report

Blog income reports continue to be one of my favorite things to read from fellow bloggers. I hope anyone else out there obsessively reading these things can appreciate the modest numbers I am putting out there.
I wanted to start from the start of earning. It seems like there is always this moment for other bloggers where $20 and $65 and $150 a month ramped up into something hard to even imagine.
I dream of college funds being squirreled away by my blog income while my kids grow up…and it can happen!
I am trying so hard to maintain a consistent effort on my blog/freelance business and am excited to document it, so I hope you enjoy learning about how bloggers can make real money.
If you are reading this, maybe you dream of being a successful blogger one day just like I do! My advice is to start! I can remember being up late in the house we haven’t lived in for over 3 years dreaming up blog ideas. And then I waited and waited and waited.
Just go for it!
The first step if you have any desire to turn blogging into a side hustle is to be self hosted! If you are searching for a hosting option as a beginning blogger and want a great price–try out my link for a deal on Bluehost.
I used them the first year and signed right back up for the second. You can also save money by doing more than one year as once!
But now, without further ado, the numbers!
April 2019 Income:
Affiliate Income: $30.50 (I didn’t hit the threshold in March, so this is actually two months worth that paid out)
Ad Income: $0 (slowly but surely growing by pennies)
Sponsored Post: $0
Freelancing: $150
Total: $180.50
So I did trend about $10 less than March, but not having a sponsored post paying $100 made a big difference. I searched unsuccessfully for sponsored opportunities with brands I love, but no luck. Maybe next month!
I did more freelance writing which has proven to be a real option for side income! It is work though. As much as I love writing and will take on much more if I can find the gigs, it’s a stream of income that takes time.
I am hoping to increase my more “passive” streams like ad and affiliate income in the coming months!
I would not have been able to land and freelance gigs without this blog to show for myself, so I am including that part in my income reports.
May’s income report will be ready before you know it–thanks everyone for following along!
Look back at March, February, and January to see my progress!
