Babywise With an Eleven Week Old
Little bit of a delay on getting weeks 11 an 12 out…I blame going back to work and Christmas time. It got busy in a hurry around here.
Luckily this coincided with Henry coming into 12 hour nights. Not to get ahead of myself. This blog post is about week 11.
Henry was 11 weeks old during Thanksgiving and a big tip for holidays and family gatherings is to try your best not to stress about the schedule. Naps and eat/wake/sleep are sure to get off track on days like Thanksgiving, and I have definitely let that stress me out before.
This time around I tried to just remind myself it’s one off day then we’ll be back to business. Of course if you can stick the routine it easily, that’s great! Henry took a nap right around the time we ate Thanksgiving dinner and that worked out really well.
Here are my three babies during the week they were 11 weeks old:
Sam
Sam was sleeping through the night but still on the dream feed during his week as an 11 week old. His ate 6 bottles a day starting with a morning wake up bottle around 6:30/7:00 and finishing up with a 10:30 dream feed. He was rocking eat/wake/sleep and bedtime was 7:15.
From my notes it does seem like Sam was my earliest waker. Tom and Henry were 7:00 like a clock. Sam would wake as early as 6:15 sometimes during week 11.
So if you are wondering why your baby isn’t sleeping til your scheduled wake time just stay the course. Sam was eventually a solid 7am-7pm sleeper.
Tom
I don’t have his sleep notes at this age. Tom was 11 weeks old during the week between Christmas and New Years and I took off work. My social media shows we were still doing the dream feed that week and it was working well.
Henry
I started Babywise from birth with Henry, and maybe that’s why he is literally like a little clock by 11 weeks. We were on a 3 hour schedule still beginning right at 7:00. So he ate 7/10/1/4/7 and dream feed at 10:30. He slept 10:30 – 7:00 each day during his time as an 11 week old.
Henry really started rocking naps these last few weeks meaning he didn’t need any help at the start of the nap. I can lay him down and he smiles and goes to sleep. This WAS NOT the case for many many many weeks. It is worth the effort, though.
Week 11 for me is always a little nerve wracking because I know we are about to drop that dream feed!
